Looking to the Future

Anticipating the increased need for support services for older adults, California’s Master Plan on Aging has a specific goal to increase the number of caregivers and diversify training opportunities for IHSS providers.

This growing demand for a well-trained workforce is the responsibility of the IHSS Public Authorities. CAPA’s core function is to support all the Public Authorities by fostering effective statewide communication among members and with key stakeholders, sharing best practices and advocating for public policy that supports IHSS providers and consumers.

California’s 65+ population is rapidly growing and is expected to become the largest demographic in the state.

By 2030, more than 9 million Californians will be an older adult, totaling one-quarter of the state’s population.
